This website is basically up to date information on Western Australian steam locomotives. Why? Because they are cool. I will be posting a new page on a loco whenever I have time.

4-6-4 Tank Loco WAGR Dd592

Dd592 was built in 1946 for the WAGR for suburban line use. In 1985, Rail Heritage WA (ARHS), planned to restore their own loco (Dd596) with help from the railways. Instead of overhauling 596 however, the people at the workshops said the boiler was shot, and offered to overhaul 592 instead and lease it. ( I have heard however that 596's boiler was fine, and that the railways just wanted to restore a loco that they owned).

In 1995 Dd592 reretired and was put on display in the Bassendean Museum. 592 is now owned by RHWA. The loco is nominally operational due to a hot bearing and perhaps some boiler troubles and may be used  at Dowerin in the future.
